I've come to an important conclusion just now. Blogging is stupid. It's like a filthy habit that you can't get rid of. I was checking out this other guy's blog and he had links to all his friends' blogs and they all decided to write their own article on their favorite screenplay and then link the blogs together. They were all really interesting, but I saw how much time and effort each of them must have put into a blog entry and it got me thinking. With all the time you spend writing a blog article (like several pages long), and formatting it so it has all sorts of pretty links and pictures and then uploading it... I mean, you could write an *actual* screenplay in the same amount of time it takes you analyze somebody else's screenplay! Sure it's just one example. But that's why I'd like to announce a hiatus in my blog. I'm too busy. Notice that I haven't uploaded any songs or pictures for a while? Updates every week as opposed to every day now? Yup... Such is life. And I'd like to get back to it.
I was just thinking about this- What song would you want to be playing when you die? Not some stupid, "I'll play this song at my funeral" thing, but whatever happens to be playing in your headphones or over some speakers when you realize you're going to die. It's not like the world revolves around you; when you die, the speakers still play whatever they were playing. Man, would it be embarrassing to die while Britney Spears or Rick Astley was playing over the radio in your room (or wherever you happen to die at). For me, I was thinking maybe a Beatles song? I don't know...
Seriously the craziest three days of my life. After adding it all up, I worked 57 out of the last 72 hours of my life. We went to Cabo, which sounds like fun, but actually was probably the most stressful thing ever. We had to negotiate with Squid Roe for a filming permit even though they originally had approved us. I got a new Mexican girlfriend at Zoo who I'm in love with because she was chill about letting us film there even though she didn't speak a word of English. We ended up on this dude's boat who was the uncle of another kid who we met in a taxi. We caught fish and met some hookers and almost got stabbed by accident because the guy who was showing us how to prepare the fish was too wasted and was waving the knife around as he made speaking hand gestures. In those 15 precious non-working hours, I rode a jetski and made seal noises and drank more beers than I can count. Probably about 6 hours of sleep total for three days. I bought good tequila for my dad. We flew first class and I drank beer made from the "gray water" from the airplane's septic tank, but hey, it was free. We went to Opera tonight to film more, and that same bouncer tried to kick me out, but I talked my way out of it. He's only shooting 2/3 now for kicking me out when I go there. Victory! I think the footage was good but I was so tired that I wasn't really paying attention. We got in a fight, the limo driver tried to run us over, and then the fire alarms were going off and my ears are still ringing. And I have to be back at work in four and a half hours. I'm seriously not leaving my room this weekend just to balance my life back out.
Two interviews... fingers crossed for both. And of course there's the scheduling problems.
Well, this entry has been appropriately titled "On Being Busy", based on Cicero's "On Friendship" and Plutarch's "On Having Many Friends", considering that Ancient Greek philosophers have been consuming my life lately. And things will probably not get any easier, since I have a job interview at KROQ on Thursday that I'm sooooo looking forward to. It's to be one of those promoters at concerts around LA, which means I can do it at night. Here's how I see it: During my job interview, I want to pitch the idea of KROQ having a concert blog or something, which I could write, and would bring traffic to the website and also get me a more legitimate writing job than MTV's stupid You R Here thing that nobody reads. Sure, my expectations are probably far too high, but whatever. Worst case scenario, I get some extra money for doing probably the easiest job in the world.
Yeah, I've been overextending myself lately. Went to 311 Day and wrote about it for MTV (amazing, see next entry... and note this post title), spent endless hours on my Greek thesis, nearly caught up on 3 days worth of work I missed for our True Life shows, worked on that other script for Lexie, edited the first phase of my Obama music video and I think I have a True Life shoot tonight. Finally got to sleep at 5:30 AM last night just to wake up at 7:30 for a meeting with my professor. It seriously never slows down.
Just got back from San Burndino (that's how you're supposed to pronounce it). It's crazy to see how hard life can be for some people. It'll all make sense when you see our new show, but wow. The English language isn't capable of describing the shit I saw this weekend.
Just got this email today (read first couple sentences to get the idea):
I wanted to thank you for your interest in establishing an English Honor Society, specifically a Sigma Tau Delta Chapter at USC. I am writing this e-mail to give those interested an opportunity to get involved, as well as provide greater information regarding the nature of the organization. The process for starting a new chapter is somewhat tedious, but I feel will be well worth the effort. I have attached information regarding the procedure to starting a chapter, along with general information about Sigma Tau Delta. I encourage you to take a look at this information to get a sense of what the organization embodies. I would also recommend checking out their web-site for a more detailed overview of the organization. As far as paperwork is concerned, I will be presenting the necessary paperwork to Prof. Bendall this Thursday to begin the process. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to e-mail me. I would greatly appreciate confirmation that you received my e-mail, as a means of assuring that everyone interested did receive an e-mail. Once again, I thank you for your interest and desire to provide a greater community for English Majors.
Sincerely,
Leandra"
